The Bur Clover is an annual forb 6-22 inches tall, maturing in 6-8 weeks. The flower cluster consists of 3-5 small yellow flowers which bloom in early spring. The spiraled fruit of Bur Clover has prickles with hooked tips that accumulate in the wool of domestic sheep and the hair of angora goats causing a decrease in the value of wool. This plant has been grown as a winter feed source and is a valuable deer forage, however, overgrazing can cause bloat in livestock. Bur Clover is found in disturbed areas of the Edwards Plateau.
