Engelmann Daisy is a densely coarse-hairy plant that can grow up to three feet tall. The flower heads of Engelmann daisies consist of yellow ray and disk flowers and can measure one to two inches in diameter. The petals tend to fold under in intense heat. The leaves of this plant can grow up to eight inches long and are mostly basal. Engelmann Daisy is easily found on calcareous loam and clay soils in open prairies and savannahs of the South Texas Plains and Edwards Plateau. It can be seen blooming between the months of February and November. It is browsed by livestock, white-tail deer and rabbits and has been used commercially for the production of dyes.
