Amblyolepis setigera DC.
Huisache-Daisy is an upright or sprawling annual growing to 6 to 18 inches tall. Each yellow flower head can reach 1 1/2 inches in diameter and consists of 8 to 10 deeply toothed ray flowers and several disk flowers. The leaves, which alternatingly clasp the stem, can reach 2 1/2 inches in length and are covered with long spreading hairs. Huisache-Daisy blooms from February to June and grows in the sandy loam, limestone, or chalky soils of the South Texas Plains and Edwards Plateau regions. The leaves are occasionally eaten by white-tailed deer and cattle.
