Painted Euphorbia can grow up to 18 inches tall. It can be found in various soils of the South Texas Plains and the Edwards Plateau. The leaves of this plant may vary with some fiddle-shaped while others are broad and bractlike. The leaves have a bright red spot near the base. They are about 2 1/2 inches long and 1/4 inch wide. It blooms between June and October with several male and female flowers located in involucral cups. The fruit of Painted Euphorbia is a three-lobed capsule.
