Stick-leaf can be found growing in calcareous or granite soils of the Edwards Plateau. It is an upright perennial reaching a height of 1 to 2 feet. The lance-shaped leaves have toothed or three-lobed margins and are 1/2 to 2 inches long. The leaves have barbed hairs which helps them stick to clothing, hence the name stick-leaf. The orange to yellow orange flowers are 3/4 inch in diameter and tend to open in the early morning or late evening. The fruit is a slightly curved capsule about 1/4 to 1/2 inch long. Stick-leaf blooms from April to October.
