Hairy Grama has bristly seedheads, somewhat like those on Red Grama, although there is a ‘stinger’ at the tip on Hairy Grama. It grows six to fifteen inches tall in dry areas of the South Texas Plains and the Edwards Plateau. It flowers from July until it becomes dormant in the fall. Wildlife and livestock get a fair amount of forage value from Hairy Grama.
