Pinhole Bluestem is a large bunch grass that can reach up to 4 feet tall. It is present in the South Texas Plains and the Edwards Plateau regions. The nodes have fringe-like hairs that are about 1/8 of an inch long. The leaves are blade-like and are wide and tapered. They can reach up to 12 inches in length. It differs from Cane Bluestem only because of the pit in the seed, giving it it’s name. Pinhole Bluestem has fair livestock value and grows well in sandy and loamy soils.
