White tridens is found in wet clayey soils of the South Texas Plains and Edwards Plateau. It is a tufted perennial with a knotty base and reaches a height of 12 to 31 inches. The seedhead is spike-like with stacks of seeds in V-shaped bracts. The seeds are usually white with a tinge of red. White Tridens blooms from March to November and is a fair forage for both wildlife and livestock.
