Common Lantana can be found in various types of soils in the Edwards Plateau and South Texas Plains. It stands two to six feet tall and has recurved prickles on the stems. The leaves are one to three inches long and have coarsely toothed margins. The flowers are yellow, turning to orange and then red. They are 1/4 to 3/8 inch long and 1/8 to 1/4 inch wide. The black berries are eaten by birds and the flowers are foraged by butterflies. Common Lantana blooms from April to October.
