Cenízo is a rounded evergreen shrub extending three to six feet upward. It is an inhabitant of the Edwards Plateau and South Texas Plains. Flowering time lasts all throughout the year. Cenízo is foraged by insects, cattle and white-tailed deer. It provides protection for birds and songbirds use it for nesting too. Native Americans have used Cenízo to treat chills and fever. Other common uses include landscape, xeriscape, as an ornamental, or hedge plant.
