Roosevelt Weed can be found growing in the South Texas Plains and the Edwards Plateau. It prefers calcareous soils and waste areas but it can also be found growing in granitic soils. It can reach a height of 9 1/2 feet. The narrow elliptic leaves are approximately 1- 2 1/2 inches long and can have a smooth or jagged margin. The small, white flowers produce long silky, silvery pappus hairs. Roosevelt Weed blooms between September and October.
