Stinging Cevallia is a shrub reaching a height of almost two feet. It can be found growing in coarse soils of the Edwards Plateau and South Texas Plains. The entire plant is covered with hairs, some of which cause a stinging sensation. The leaves are about 1 to 2 1/2 inches in length and have deeply lobed margins. The flowers are found in dense heads, but may only have a few flowers open at one time. The small yellow flowers are surrounded by longer yellow sepals. Stinging Cevallia can be found blooming from April to October.
